Michael Whittemore’s weekly work load would be daunting for anyone. Writing 15-20 radio commercials for clients, plus producing numerous music and message-on-hold presentations, and crafting proposals for new and existing clients fills Mike’s days and evenings. Yet he knew there had to be a way to get more done in less time.

He got a glimpse of a new approach a few months ago, when he saw Dragon Naturally Speaking demonstrated. He was intrigued, but at the time his computer was too old and too slow to effectively run the software, so he held off making the switch. But at the beginning of this month, just a couple of weeks ago, the purchase of a new computer with a faster processor brought with it the opportunity to try out speech recognition software.

After being trained by Achieve Results, Mike was amazed at “how I was able to jump in and get as much done as I have after such a short lesson.” “I know I couldn’t have figured out how to use it on my own,” he says.

Most of us know Steve as the driving force of IMS Barter (formally Alliance Barter/RTE). Did you know? Steve's Webster Properties, has been a part of the Rochester community since 1978, providing real estate development, management, and finance services.

Did you also know that Steve has been using his speech recognition software every Saturday since 2002. The use of speech recognition software has given Steve much more control over confidential business correspondence, that which he would not have if he had to rely on typing.

Steve currently types at a rate of 20 words per minute with a 98% accuracy and speaks 170 words per minute with a 96% accuracy.

And the computer monitors we've attached yellow, blue, and green sticky notes as reminders of things to do and people call. Our e-mail boxes have become whole boxes filled with unopened mail, faxes, express delivery letters, and knows what else. And we spend most of her days putting out one fire after another.

I was shopping at Wegmans on Saturday evening, browsing the magazine section – yes, my Saturday evenings are very exciting. As I was flipping through one of the magazines, I caught a glimpse of the writer’s name, a name which is very familiar to me and if you've been reading our newsletters for the last two years, to you also.

Marcia Layton Turner has been writing the Achieve Results Featured User profiles for quite some time now, but you may not know that she is also an accomplished freelancer and bestselling author. Her work has appeared in BusinessWeek, Business 2.0, Entrepreneur, Woman's Day, and many trade publications. This month she has a big piece in Health magazine, which is what caught my eye.

The reason I initially hired Marcia to write our Featured User profiles was I knew she would take an unbiased, objective position when interviewing speech recognition users, to ensure that our readers are receiving useful, realistic, candid information.
