Stuart Mitchell was an early adopter of speech recognition software, having first tried it about ten years ago, when it was a "complicated and frustrating experience," he admits. Despite the challenges, Stuart persevered. Recognizing that his typing skills weren't going to improve enough to keep up with the rapidly increasing number of emails and memos, Stuart stuck with an old IBM speech recognition product, hoping that using it would get easier in time. It did.
About seven years ago, CPA John Heveron, President of Heveron & Heveron CPA Firm, introduced him to Dragon Naturally Speaking, which was a major improvement over what Stuart had been using. "My issue is that I'm a poor typist," explains Stuart, "and the advent of email has overwhelmed my old way of handing off dictations to my assistant, necessitating a new system. Speech recognition software "is a wonderfully quick way of resolving my shortcomings," he says.

Achieving Optimal Results
At points in our life we have or will be faced with issues that require the guidance of an Expert, be it legal, medical, educational, financial etc. Just because an individual is regarded by others as an Expert, does not necessarily mean they have the knowledge or experience to deal with your specific issue to achieve an optimal result.
To improve your likelihood of making the right decision regarding the individual you choose to guide you, make sure you ask the following questions and more importantly make sure you understand the answers.
1. What is the expected end result from their perspective? Don't accept a vague answer. That should give you a clue that they are either not committed, do not have the confidence or do not want to be held accountable for their advice.
2. How long will it take to achieve the end result? Ask for a best case, worst case, and the typical. Ask for examples.
3. What are expected milestones and what should you do if you are not experiencing them? Milestones are critical to confirm you are making progress. Once again, do not accept a vague answer, write them down together.
Typically, these three questions will lead to a focused, detailed conversation pertaining specifically to your personal circumstances.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Your comments allow for continuous enhancement to the services we offer our customers. (585)586-4550 x227

Can I load Dragon onto my Mac?
Currently there is no version of Dragon that will run on a MacOS. You can however use a program called Parallels, www.parallels.com, MSRP $79.99, which will enable you to load a Windows Operating System on top of your MacOS, but this requires an Intel powered Mac computer.
Now, you will need to own a valid copy of a Windows OS, XP or certain Vista versions, as well if you intend to utilize the product so there will be an additional cost of the Windows Software as well.
Parallels works by creating a "virtual machine" on top of your MacOS. From there, you will load Dragon into your "Virtual Windows Machine" and that is where you will be able to access Dragon. There is a free add-in now for Parallels called SpeakIn that will allow you to dictate into any window you have in focus on your MacOS desktop.
Since Parallels runs Windows on top of your MacOS it would be a good idea to have a high powered Mac. Parallels will configure your available resources to be shared with the Windows OS.
