Andrew couldn’t be more satisfied

Andrew Green, M.D.

Although the quality of medical transcription that allergists Dr. Andrew Green and Dr. Rita Sloan received from their transcription service was excellent, the thousands of dollars spent per year and the hour or two Dr. Andrew Green or his partner had to spend reviewing notes on the weekend were reason enough to explore alternatives like speech recognition. Now, six weeks after being trained in the use of Dragon Naturally Speaking, Andrew couldn’t be more satisfied with the improved workflow, increased office efficiency, reduced cost, and additional free time at week’s end.

Life and work haave become hectic and complicated.  There’s too much to do and not enough time.  We rush from one meeting to another to another.  And when we return to the office there are five, 10, 15, 20 or more voice mail messages that need to be returned, and scores of e-mail messages to reply to and we’ve ony been gone for a few hours.

On our desks are piles of papers that we’ve got to do something with.  There are letters to write, proposals to prepare, things to follow up on, and lots of other miscellaneous stuff that’s been hanging around for days, weeks, or months.

On the computer monitor we've attached yellow, blue, and green sticky notes as reminders of things to do or people to call.  Our in and out boxes have become hold boxes filled with unopened mail, faxes, express delivery letters, and who knows

The Transformation of the "Transcriptionist"

Before my very eyes I witnessed the transformation of a transcriptionist of many years, to a “Workflow Coordinator”.

Kathy Jo, an in-house transcriptionist for Dr. Mark Hoeplinger, Western NY ENT, participated in a meeting discussing the implementation of speech recognition software for the practice. Her questions were direct, thought provoking and critical to a successful implementation.

Without a word being said, Kathy Jo unequivocally defined her role in the practice moving forward.

Without question, real change requires Real Change.  Individuals like Kathy Jo, who are true assets to an organization, will not be eliminated by technology.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.  Your comments allow for continuous enhancement to the services we offer our customers. (585)586-4550 x227

Does Dragon work with Windows 7?

Windows 7, the newest version of the Windows operating system, was released to manufacturing in July 2009, and recently released to general retail. Nuance states that Dragon v10.1 is fully supported on Windows 7.  Dragon NaturallySpeaking v9 and v10.0 are not supported on Windows 7.  Please call us for more information on upgrading your software to be compatible with Windows 7.

"Today was a noisy day on the unit and Dragon, somehow, ignored all the background noise and honed in on my voice. Given the span of time from when I first used it until now I feel like I exited a school bus 7 or 8 years ago and reconnected now by hitching a ride on a Learjet!"

"I have been using Dragon since you left office. I have answered all my e-mails with Dragon. I then went into my accounting software and was able to speak my journal entries. I wasn't understanding that I would be able to do this type of work. I am very excited about this. Thanks for all your help."

"It's just incredible to me how much work I can crank out with this new tool. It's not actually saving me overall time; what it's doing is allowing me to pump out far more communications than ever before and to do it so quickly that it is amazingly efficient use of my time."
